Regional Sales Manager – West Bengal (Medical Devices)

Job Summary

The Regional Sales Manager is responsible for achieving sales and profitability targets across West Bengal by leading a high-performing sales team, expanding market presence, managing key accounts, and developing strong relationships with healthcare professionals, hospitals, distributors, and channel partners. The role requires close collaboration with marketing, clinical support, regulatory, customer service, and supply chain teams to deliver sustainable business growth while ensuring compliance with company policies and applicable regulations.


Key Responsibilities

1. Sales Strategy & Business Development

  • Develop and execute the regional sales strategy aligned with the national business plan.
  • Achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets for the assigned product portfolio.
  • Identify new business opportunities across government and private healthcare sectors.
  • Drive market penetration through customer acquisition and expansion of existing accounts.
  • Develop territory growth plans based on market potential and competitive analysis.

2. Team Leadership

  • Recruit, coach, and develop Territory Sales Managers and Sales Executives.
  • Set individual performance objectives and monitor achievement against KPIs.
  • Conduct regular field visits to provide coaching and improve sales effectiveness.
  • Foster a high-performance, customer-focused sales culture.
  • Lead performance reviews and implement development plans.

3. Key Account Management

  • Build and maintain relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs), hospital administrators, procurement teams, clinicians, and distributors.
  • Manage strategic accounts to ensure long-term partnerships.
  • Support contract negotiations and major tenders.
  • Resolve customer issues promptly to maintain high levels of satisfaction.

4. Distributor & Channel Management

  • Appoint, manage, and develop distributors where applicable.
  • Monitor distributor performance, inventory, and sales execution.
  • Ensure compliance with distributor agreements and commercial policies.
  • Improve channel productivity and market coverage.

5. Market Intelligence

  • Monitor competitor activities, pricing, product launches, and market trends.
  • Collect customer feedback and provide insights to marketing and product management teams.
  • Identify opportunities for new product introductions and portfolio expansion.

6. Commercial Excellence

  • Ensure effective implementation of pricing strategies and promotional programs.
  • Monitor sales forecasts and pipeline accuracy.
  • Optimize product mix to improve profitability.
  • Drive disciplined use of CRM systems and sales reporting tools.

7. Financial Management

  • Deliver regional revenue and gross margin targets.
  • Manage regional sales expenses within approved budgets.
  • Monitor receivables and support timely collections.
  • Improve forecast accuracy and inventory planning.

8. Compliance & Quality

  • Ensure adherence to company policies, ethical business practices, and applicable medical device regulations.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and reporting.
  • Support product complaint handling and post-market surveillance where required.
  • Promote a culture of quality and compliance.

9. Cross-functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with Marketing on product launches and promotional campaigns.
  • Coordinate with Clinical/Application Specialists to support product demonstrations and training.
  • Collaborate with Customer Service and Supply Chain to ensure timely product availability.
  • Partner with Finance to improve collections and commercial performance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Biomedical Engineering, Pharmacy, Business, or a related field.
  • MBA in Sales, Marketing, or General Management is preferred.

Experience

  • 8–12 years of sales experience in the medical devices, diagnostics, or healthcare industry.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience managing regional sales teams.
  • Proven experience in selling to hospitals, healthcare institutions, and channel partners.
  • Experience handling government tenders and institutional business is desirable.
  • Strong understanding of the West Bengal healthcare market.
