Job Summary
The Regional Sales Manager – North East is responsible for achieving regional sales and profitability targets by developing and executing sales strategies, expanding market presence, and building strong relationships with healthcare institutions, clinicians, distributors, and government agencies. The role involves leading the regional sales team, managing key accounts, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure excellent customer service and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
1. Sales Strategy & Business Development
- Develop and implement the regional sales strategy aligned with the company’s national business objectives.
- Achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets for the assigned medical device portfolio.
- Identify and develop new business opportunities across government, institutional, and private healthcare sectors.
- Increase market penetration and expand customer coverage throughout the North East region.
- Develop regional business plans based on market potential and competitive analysis.
2. Team Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and develop Territory Sales Managers and Sales Executives.
- Set clear sales objectives and monitor performance against established KPIs.
- Conduct regular field coaching, performance reviews, and sales meetings.
- Build a high-performance, customer-focused sales culture.
- Support recruitment, onboarding, and succession planning.
3. Key Account Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs), hospital management, clinicians, procurement teams, and government healthcare authorities.
- Manage strategic accounts to maximize customer retention and business growth.
- Support contract negotiations, institutional sales, and government tenders.
- Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction through timely issue resolution.
4. Distributor & Channel Management
- Identify, appoint, and manage distributors and channel partners across the region.
- Monitor distributor performance, inventory levels, and market coverage.
- Ensure compliance with distributor agreements and commercial policies.
- Strengthen channel capabilities through regular training and performance reviews.
5. Market Intelligence
- Monitor competitor activities, pricing strategies, product launches, and market developments.
- Collect customer feedback and provide actionable insights to marketing and product management teams.
- Identify opportunities for new product launches and portfolio expansion.
6. Commercial Excellence
- Execute pricing strategies and promotional initiatives effectively.
- Maintain accurate sales forecasts and pipeline management.
- Drive CRM adoption and ensure timely reporting.
- Optimize product mix to improve revenue and profitability.
7. Financial Management
- Deliver regional sales, profitability, and gross margin targets.
- Manage regional operating expenses within approved budgets.
- Support timely collections and monitor receivables.
- Improve sales forecast accuracy and inventory planning.
8. Compliance & Quality
- Ensure adherence to company policies, ethical business practices, and applicable medical device regulations.
- Maintain accurate documentation and reporting.
- Support complaint handling and post-market surveillance activities where required.
- Promote quality, compliance, and patient safety across all business activities.
9. Cross-functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Marketing to execute promotional campaigns and product launches.
- Collaborate with Clinical/Application Specialists for product demonstrations and clinical support.
- Coordinate with Supply Chain and Customer Service to ensure product availability and timely deliveries.
- Partner with Finance on collections and commercial performance.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Biomedical Engineering, Pharmacy, Business, or a related field.
- MBA in Sales, Marketing, or General Management is preferred.
Experience
- 8–12 years of sales experience in the medical devices, diagnostics, or healthcare industry.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience managing regional sales teams.
- Proven experience in hospital, institutional, and distributor sales.
- Experience handling government tenders and public healthcare business is an advantage.
- Familiarity with the healthcare landscape and market dynamics of North East India.
